Music
and Movement Classes
I am an experienced music teacher available to Childcare Centers and Schools as a daily, weekly or monthly consultant. Resume, references and course description are available upon request. Classes are based on the Kodaly, Dalcroze and Orff methodologies. My general music course follows the Kindergarten SOL for Music in the State of Virginia. GENERAL MUSIC
FOCUS: This
program gets preschoolers moving to a wide variety of folk songs and
classical pieces in a fun and exhilarating group setting. They'll do an
African dance one day and a Mexican dance the next. They play percussion
instruments, and practice reading, stepping and skipping to rhythms. They
learn to sing songs in tune and explore the space around them. AMERICAN AND
INTERNATIONAL DANCE FOCUS: Ages four to seven learn elementary folk,
contra-line and partner dance steps with songs like "Buffalo
Gals", "Paw Paw Patch" and "Goin' to
Boston." They learn
International dance steps with songs from Bolivia, Greece, Ghana, Ukraine,
China, and more! Last class
ends with a performance for invited friends and family members.
