Dear Dinobone,
I want to learn the Hambone, how can I?

Dear Writer,
I've googled a few links you can try, you may find more. Since this style of playing is passed down from Generation to Generation, probably the best way to learn it aside from a real person, is through video. Good luck! Dinobone and Kim Milai

Dear Dinobone,
Please sing the version of Hush Little Baby, with five and dime in the song, I can't figure what comes after that!

Dear Writer,
The only reference I have for this version goes like..
Hush Little Baby don't say a word.
Pa Pa's gonna buy you a mocking bird.
And if that mocking bird won't sing.
Pa Pa's gonna buy you a diamond ring.
And if that diamond ring don't shine,
Pa Pa's goin' to take you to the Five 'n Dime.

Dear Dinobone,
Who wrote the lullaby "Hush Little baby"?

Dear Writer,
No one knows who wrote, "Hush Little Baby." When the songwriter is unknown, we say that the composer was "Anonymous." My sources tell me that the lyrics have been around since the 1700's.

Interestingly enough, Some of the words for "Hush Little Baby" are also in "Hambone, Hambone." There are many examples in folk music where lyrics are 'borrowed' from one song for another. Sometimes we even know which song was the original but most times not.

Dear Dinobone,
Have you ever heard of the Ham bone song?

Dear Writer,
Why yes, one of my favorites! In fact, my "Dinobone" song is a variation of the song "HamBone." Here is one example of the many different versions of "Hambone."
HAM BONE

Hambone, hambone where you been?
Round the world and I’m going again
What you gonna do when you come back?
Take a little walk by the railroad track

Hambone, hambone Have you heard?
Papa’s gonna buy me a mocking bird
And if that mocking bird don’t sing
Papa’s gonna buy me a diamond ring
And if that diamond ring don’t shine
Papa’s gonna take it to the five and dime
While singing the song "Hambone", many performers also slap their hand up and down against their body with a fast rhythm. This is known as "hamboning."
Your friend, Dinobone
